Psychological Assessment in Children With Epilepsy and Their Mothers

Objective: Epilepsy is a chronic disease with high morbidity. Our study aims to investigate the scores of anxiety and depression in children epilepsy their mothers role parental attitudes these children. Material Methods: The included 35 mothers. Control group consisted healthy similar age sex Parenting Style Inventory (PSI), Parental Attitude Research Instrument (PARI), Beck Depression (BDI) Anxiety (BAI), Revised Children’s Scale - Parent version (RCADS-P) scales were used patient control groups. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between mother terms BDI BAI scales. differences total subscale groups RCADS-P. Strictness/supervision PSI average significantly higher but Psychological Autonomy found lower. mean Excessive Maternity Obsession Discipline PARI group. Conclusion: Mothers may be overprotective or authoritarian. Overprotective authoritative can lead loss self-esteem. Therefore, besides treatment epilepsy, attention should paid improving wrong parents.
